Ohio Caverns
Ohio Caverns is one of Ohio's most popular tourist attractions. The
caverns remain a steady 54 degrees year round featuring some of the
most unique formations in America. Hidden beneath the rolling
farmland and wooded countryside of Champaign County, the caverns were
formed thousands of years ago when an underground river cut through
ancient limestone and created vast rooms and passageways that later
filled with countless crystal stalactites, stalagmites and other
amazing formations.
Ziplining
Our zipling adventure was one that put Granny and Gpa's exchange
program dedication to a true test. Beforehand, it seemed like a
rather fun way to spend an afternoon with our four exchange students,
but when you are forty feet up in the air on a small platform about to
step off into space for the first time, doubts about the wisdom
of that choice of adventure cannot help but enter your mind.
There was no such doubt in the minds of our four students and they
zipped away without hesitation. Granny prayed to God for help and
then screamed all the way from tree to tree. Gpa was last in line
and had no choice but to take that step into space since the girls and
Granny had already done so.
Bullet Making
The right to keep and bear arms does not exist in China and three of
our exchange students had never been in the presence of a real pistol
or rifle let alone handle one or make their own bullets, so the
opportunity of doing both was the experience of a lifetime for
them. Due to scheduling conflicts, the event took place on two
different days.
